Parents

The Alpha II community includes parents and guardians.  Students are referred to as mentees and teachers are mentors.  Mentees direct their own learning with support and direction from mentors and parents/guardians working together.

Our community is enriched immensely when parents/guardians volunteer their time and share their skills.  Parents have the opportunity to volunteer in the community by attending meetings, offering a workshop and by promoting the school to other families. Any and all ways parents want to engage and help out that support mentee self-direction and consensus decision making is vital to mentee growth and learning opportunities.

At Alpha II we encourage all parents/guardians to be involved and active both with their own child’s education and with the community as a whole. Alpha II is a school where the mentees themselves construct and direct their personal schedules.  In this way, mentees value what they learn and can take personal responsibility for their accomplishments. Parents who expect their child or the mentors to follow a pre-determined schedule (by school or parent) may not find Alpha II's learning model suitable.
