New Automated call out system for safe arrival
One measure of keeping students safe is ensuring students have safely arrived at school and that we can account for any absence or when someone is late. It is important that if your child is going to be absent or late for any reason, you please contact that school by leaving a message on our (24 hour) answering system at 416 396 6108 and Press 1. Please leave student's full name, room number, teacher and reason for absence. Please speak slowly and clearly. Messages must be left by 8:30 am each day on our answering system. If no call is received by this time the system (automated call out) will make attempts to contact you to determine the reason for the absence. For the pm, messages must be left by 12:15 pm. If you receive an automated call out, please follow the prompts carefully. Thanks for your assistance in keeping our students safe.
Morning Snack
Thanks to the financial support of the Toronto Foundation for Student Success and parental donations, we are pleased to be able to provide a snack daily for every student at Bellmere Jr. PS.
Every day, a nutritious snack is provided each morning which consists of a combination of 3 different food groups.
Our program provides an opportunity for students to have a healthy snack each day, and start the day off with the energy they need. Please make sure you have completed the medical questionnaire so we will be aware of any food allergies your child may have.
School History
Our school has a very interesting history.
Bellmere was designed by architect, John Andrews, who also designed the University of Toronto's Scarborough College and The Arab Pavilion for Montreal's Expo '67. The revolutionary design featured peaked roofs on all of the classrooms to make young students feel more at home.
In the 1970s, Bellmere had a huge fire in four of our classrooms and in our library. A blazing fire burned through Bellmere's rooms and created an enormous disaster. Fortunately, no one was injured. The library was moved into the gym and a new gymnasium and classrooms were built on the site where the fire was.
