Attendance

Attendance

Daily attendance ensures student success. Perfect attendance is recognized and celebrated at Bendale; all students with perfect attendance are invited to special luncheons.

Lateness

Students who are late jeopardize their own success and disrupt others. Students are late for school if they are not in first period class by 8:55 a.m. when the bell rings. Students who arrive at school after 8:55 a.m. are to go directly to class.

In-between classes, there is 5 minutes travel time; if students arrive after that time, they will be marked late by the teacher in the class attendance records. Teachers will direct the late student to the office for an admit slip.

Teachers’ responses to student lateness may include:

  • counseling
  • making up missed time/detention
  • contacting parent/guardian
  • referring students to administration (Vice-Principal)

Absent from School

Parents or Guardians must provide a note for any student absence from school. If 18 years of age or older, the student is responsible for providing the note. Parents/Guardians will be notified of lates/absences by the autodialer message system.

Teachers’ responses to student absences may include:

  • encouraging individual student engagement
  • attendance counseling
  • providing students with an opportunity to catch up work missed due to absence/lateness
  • contacting parent/guardian by phone/letter
  • review of students’ educational needs
  • referral to guidance for programming
  • referral to administration (Vice-Principal)

Excusal from Class

Excusal from class requires a hall pass from the teacher.

Sign-Outs

If you need to sign out of school before school ends:

Present a note from yourparent/guardian to your teacher

Sign out in the main office when leaving the school at arranged time.

Sign in at the office if you return the same day.

If you do not have a note, you must call home for permission to leave.

Absence/Missed Classes/FieldTrips

Students are responsible for contacting their teachers for all work missed during absences, including field trips.
