Eat-In Ontario

Brock School was lucky to participate in FoodShare's third annual Eat-In Ontario. Representatives from FoodShare visited us all day and worked with the whole school to create a Stone Soup using vegetables and herbs we grew in our garden. At the end of the day, we all sat in the lunchroom to offer our thanks and enjoy our soup together. It was a fun and memorable day for all.

FoodShare has a new website with a blog entry about the day. To read it, click here: Celebrating Local Food at Eat-In Ontario

More About our FoodShare Partnership

If you are a parent of a Brock student and would like to get involved with the school garden committee please contact James Davis at james@foodshare.net for more information.

Brock Junior Public School has been working with FoodShare Toronto's Field to Table Schools Program for three years. We've collaborated on a variety of activities such as student field trips to the organization's 90 Croatia St location, interactive Food Literacy workshops including the annual Great Big Crunch, teacher and parent trainings, the development, construction and installation of our terrace garden as well as ongoing garden activities each week. We're now also enjoying an ongoing partnership in aid of the school's 125th anniversary celebration to be held on Saturday, November 24th.

The York University Community Arts Program initiative has provided Brock JPS students with an opportunity to creatively express their interactions with the terrace garden and we believe the teachers and students will benefit as a result of the weekly art sessions being facilitated by FoodShare and York U intern, Nicole Sullivan. We look forward to showcasing the results on November 24th.
