    Welcome to Kindergarten

Welcome to Kindergarten!! We are happy to see our returning students as well as our new JK's!! We hope that you had a wonderful summer and are ready for a fun and exciting year ahead! We will start the year with 'It's Me!', healthy eating, sorting, letters of the week, journal writing, and learning how to write our own name!!

Our KOLE (Kindergarten Outdoor Learning Environment) will be used as part of the Kindergarten program.  This is space is an extension of the classroom where  the children guide their own inquiry and learning.   The students will be outside all year round so appropriate outdoor clothing is very important (rain boots, rain jackets, sweaters, mittens, snowpants, boots, etc).  If you need assistance with any clothing please let us know and we will try our best to assist you.

Your children will see Mrs. Park for gym and Mr. Wong for music , and Ms. D for drama and dance . Please have (velcro) running shoes for your child each day as gym will fall on different days of the week as we are on a Day 1-5 cycle.

One of the major skills we will be working on the first term will be independence. We encourage the students to be as independent as possible (opening snack, hanging up bags and jackets, changing shoes, putting belongings away). Please continue to practice these skills at home with your child(ren).

School hours are from 9am-3pm.  Drop off and pick up will take place outside in the KOLE.   Please do not take your child until we have seen you and they have said good-bye to us.

Don't forget healthy snacks for morning and afternoon and a lunch if your child is staying at noonhour.  The students go outside everyday after lunch is completed so remember to have them dressed in appropriate clothing.  We look forward to working with you and your child and hope to be a guide on their own path of learning and inquiry this year.  Please don't hesitate to contact through the office if you have any questions or concerns.

    Thank You

    The Kindergarten Team
