Downsview Secondary School Library and Learning Commons

Welcome to the DSS library and learning commons. The Downsview Library Learning Commons is a bustling hub of collaborative, cooperative, digital, global, and individual learning. With teacher-librarians and a wealth of digital and print resources, students learn to locate, assess, process, and create the information they need for assignments, to read for fun, and to become independent life-long learners.

Whenever possible the library maintains the following hours:
Monday to Thursday: 8:10am – 3:45pm
Friday: 8:10am – 3:15pm
Late Start: 10:10am – 3:45pm.

Welcome to YOUR library!  We support students in many ways in the library. The teacher-librarians are here to help with assignments, computer support, finding a book and general research.  We have printers (black/white and colour), a photocopier (10 cents/copy), and other equipment and supplies available for student use. We also have three media carts available for presentations.  If you are looking for a quiet place to read, a space to study with friends or on your own, the library has a variety of comfortable spaces to support you.  Make sure to come and see our new Africentric collection.

Working at home?  Need DSS library resources?  No problem!  Many of the library’s resources can be accessed from home through the DSS Virtual Library. Using passwords, a wide range of academic databases, newspapers, ebooks, and encyclopedias can be used. Passwords for home use can be picked up in the library.
