Survival, Heat in the Environment (STEM)

Each group experiences a survival simulation and practise meeting their basic needs of air, shelter, water and food. Learners discover that group cooperation is the most important aspect of survival in this lesson. Avoiding a survival situation is emphasized through proper planning and prevention, and emphasis is placed on the "Heat Thieves" studied in the Grade 7 curriculum.

Survival, Human Organ Systems (STEM)

Each group experiences a survival simulation and practice meeting their basic needs of air, shelter, water and food. Learners discover that group cooperation is the most important aspect of survival in this lesson. Avoiding a survival situation is emphasized through proper planning and prevention, and particular attention is placed on the "Maintaining Healthy Organ Systems" studied in The Ontario Curriculum Grades 1-8: Science and Technology, "Understanding Life Systems" strand for Grade 5.
