Dunloe Children's Centre

Dunloe Children's Centre...Building for the Future!

Dunloe Children's Centre is incorporated as a licensed not-for-profit organization and was established by a group of parents in conjunction with the Toronto District School Board in response to a recognized need for Nursery School and Childcare services in our area. Our Board of Directors, comprised of parents of current or alumni students, Forest Hill & Community Representatives who provide overall guidance of policies and operations. Dunloe operates at Forest Hill Public School and opened in September 1985. Dunloe offers quality Childcare, Nursery School, Before & After JK/SK programs for children aged 2.5 to 6 years of age, as well as a School Age program for children 6 to 12 years of age.

Mission Statement

Dunloe Children's Centre exists to provide a safe, developmentally appropriate environment for preschool and school age children. Our focus is to provide a stimulating early care and education experience which promotes each child's social/emotional, physical and cognitive development. Our goal is to support children's desire to be life-long learners.

Dunloe operates in conjunction with Forest Hill Public School. Dunloe is open from September to June with the exception of statutory holidays, Forest Hill Winter and March Break. Each program is offered with three options: the three-day option, four-day option or five-day option. These options are explained on the application forms. Application forms are available at Dunloe, and all information regarding procedures and fees can be obtained by calling the Executive Director. Children may be enrolled for any combination of days in the School Age program, but must register for a minimum of two days per week.

Dunloe Children's Centre is located in Forest Hill Public School. We enjoy the use of a huge outdoor play area with access to three play structures, including well-equipped fenced and landscaped playgrounds, running track and sports field. Dunloe’s flexible program takes into consideration the varying ages and abilities of the children attending the Centre by providing a variety of stimulating indoor and outdoor activities. Dunloe is based on "How Does Learning Happen", E.L.E.C.T. and student observations and interests that the staff prepare in accordance with our Program Statement.

At Dunloe Children's Centre we believe that each child is a unique individual. We believe that the world of the child should be one full of opportunities to create and explore in the broadest sense possible. Our school is non-denominational and non sectarian. Respect for all beliefs and ethnicities are encouraged and fostered.

Our programs stimulate growth and creativity through structured and unstructured activities both indoors and out. We emphasize co-operative play and sharing to encourage the nurturing of social skills. We strive to develop your child's independence and self-motivation through exploration and challenge. Our policy of regular communication with parents helps us understand and meet each child's needs. Together, we will work to provide the best possible day for each individual child.
