Breakfast and Snack Program

Breakfast and Snack Program

Overview

One of the most popular programs we offer at Glen Park, is our "Breakfast" and "Morning Snack" program.  Studies show that a child's ability to focus and retain information improves when they are well nourished. Our programs are volunteer-based and funded by municipal dollars through the Toronto Foundation for Student Success and with Provincial dollars through the Canadian Living Foundation. We also receive donations of food from local businesses such as: What-a-Bagel . Our breakfast program begins feeding students at 8:15 a.m. and provides both a nutritious start to their day and an invaluable service to many of our working parents.

Breakfast Program

Each student who enroll in the program, each will receive a well balanced meal consisting of cheese, toast, pancakes, juice and or milk.

The breakfast would be provided from 8:15am-8:45am in the lunch room for students in grades JK-6. JK and SK students are welcome to attend the breakfast program, if they are accompanied by an adult.  Since only a portion of the program cost is supported by the Toronto Foundation for Student Success, in order to ensure the availability of this program, a suggested contribution of $25.00 three times a year is suggested. A Tax receipt will be issued by the TFSS for any donations of $25 and above. All parents are welcome to make a donation to the program if they wish; however, it is not mandatory in order to participate. Payments and contributions are all done through school cash online.

Snack Program

Enjoying a healthy snack not only makes you feel good but enhances your ability to work productively.  Through Glen Park's snack program students receive a well balanced snack consisting of 3 food groups, including veggies and dip, cheese, toast, and fruit.

The snack is delivered to the classes and offered before morning recess for in all students. Since only a portion of the program cost is supported by The Toronto Foundation for Student Success, in order to ensure the availability of this program, a contribution of $25.00 would be appreciated from each student three times a year through school cash online. A tax receipt will be issued for those who donate anything $25 and above. All parents are welcome to make a donation to the program if they wish; however, it is not mandatory in order to participate.

If you wish to volunteer in the program a police reference check must be completed. Please contact the main office for further information.
