School Council

School Council

School councils are an excellent way for parents to get involved in their child’s education. Our school council is an important forum for involving all members of the school community in matters that affect the education of students. The school council is made up of an elected committee of parents, staff and student representatives, appointed community members, the principal, and a general membership which includes all parent of children attending the school. The school council advises the principal and the Board on a variety of issues and activities relating to student achievement, curriculum goals and priorities, school budget priorities, school safety, renovation plans, after school activities, and criteria for selection of new principals.

At HVV we have a very active School Council and a large number of parent committees that support the educational, physical and social development of our students. Many parent volunteers assist in reading programs, remedial work, the library, computer labs, fundraising, excursions, environmental projects, coaching and supervising extracurricular sports and clubs.

As we continue to navigate the COVID 19 pandemic, Volunteer opportunities for the 2020-2021 school year are on hold until further notice.

Stay tuned for information on upcoming events.
