Healthy Bites

About the Program

Healthy Bites is a nutritious, hot lunch program which is run by Jennifer Hara, Mary-Anne Muzos and Liz Canrinus along with parent and student volunteers, and with assistance from the Toronto Foundation for Student Success.  Lunches consist of a salad bar, with a  mininum of 4 raw vegetables, a salad, 3 types of raw fruit, as well as an entree which includes a choice of protein and a source of whole grains.

The program begins in the second week of the school year and is offered every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for the entire school year.  The cost is either $37.50 per month (3 days - Tues/Wed/Thurs) or $50.00 per month (4 days, Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs).  There are no adjustments or refunds for missed lunches.  There is no daily fee available.  All participating students must be registered in the program.  Only cash or cheque in full $375.00 (3 days/week) or $500.00 (4 days/week), or 10 postdated cheques of either $37.50 or $50.00 will be accepted.  Payment must be submitted with application prior to the deadline.  Cheques are must be dated for the 1st of each month (to ensure timely deposits) and should be payable to John English Healthy Bites.  Participation is for the entire school year.  Please note that you will be charged $10.00 per NSF cheque.  If more than two cheques are NSF, full cash payment will be requested.
