Lawrence Heights Middle School was a very fortunate recipient of the MusiCounts Band Aid Grant in 2015!  Through this very generous grant, we have been able to purchase a class set of electronic piano keyboards for use in our school music program.  We are thrilled with this wonderful addition to our music program!

Lawrence Heights Middle School has  alsobeen fortunate to partner with Arts for Children andYouth, who have provided a wonderful program called "Beat of Your Own Drum" to our students. 

Last year one group of students made 20 djembes (a rope tuned, skin covered goblet drum) and 3 djuns (a larger rope tuned cylindrical drum with a rawhide covering at both ends) with the artist, Mr. Saiko Saho. This was followed by drumming workshops for the group that built the drums, as well as 3 additional classes.    The school’s very popular Drum Troupe led by our music teacher Ms. Barry performed at many assemblies throughout the year.

This year we are continuing to work with Arts for Children and Youth in our second year of this wonderful program
