MUSIC PROGRAM  

Since 1936, Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute has been an important part of the North Toronto community.  From the school's inception, Lawrence Park's teachers, students and parents have worked together to support academic excellence.  The school remains committed to providing a rich and varied program with many opportunities for students to become involved, and regularly ranks as one of Canada’s most respected and decorated high schools.

Lawrence Park offers three streams of music: band, strings and vocal, and has over 80 students each week participating in its music ensembles - with many students being part of multiple ensembles.  The Music Department at LPCI consistently receives top honours and awards at festivals hosted by the Ontario Band Association, Ontario Vocal Festival, Ontario String Association, MusicFest Canada, and the Toronto Kiwanis Festival.  

The ensembles at Lawrence Park regularly perform at school assemblies (Grade 8 Night, Homecoming Football, Remembrance Day, Black History Month) and at our annual winter and spring concerts. We also host fall and spring socials, and open mic performances.  

In previous years, the music department has toured in and around New York City (2014), Chicago (2016), Eastern Canada (2018), and most recently completed a tour of Niagara Falls (2023).  The LPCI music department is regarded as a model of excellence for the Toronto District School Board.
