Specialist High Skills Major - Health and Wellness (SHSM) Overview

The SHSM is a specialized program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector, while meeting the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Students who complete the program will receive a special seal on their diploma.

Our Health and Wellness focused SHSM allows students to explore a variety of health, fitness, and kinesiology related courses and careers.

Features

The SHSM program consists of a bundle of Grade 11 and 12 related credits. This program includes the following industry recognized certifications: CPR C, Standard First Aid, WHMIS, Infection Control, AED, Service Excellence and more. 

Students will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience through their co-op placements. Furthermore, student will have the opportunity to experience various forms of experiential learning, visit industry reps, visit colleges and universities, and use the Ontario Skills Passport to document new skills.

This program will assist students in their transition from high school to college, university, or the workplace.
