    Exam Feedback Day. OSSLT Individual Reports and Summer School Registration on June 26, 2017

Exam Feedback Day is on June 26, 2016 from 12:30 p.m. - 3:05 p.m. Each class will run for 15 minutes on a Day 1 and Day 2 schedule with a 5 minute break between classes. For more info, please click on the schedule link.

Students will be able to pick up their individual OSSLT individual student reports in the main office.
             
Also, the last day to register for summer school for full credit or remedial credits is on June 29 by noon. Registration information can also be found by clicking on the summer school link.

    Submission of Permission Forms for Camp Manitou (2017-2018)

The camp will take place Monday October 2 – Friday October 6, at Camp Manitou in Parry Sound, Ontario. The Leadership Program at Martingrove Collegiate offers students an opportunity to develop
their leadership skills and enhance personal development. The camp is student-centered and inclusive with the goal of reaching out to the various interests of the whole student body to foster a greater sense
of community within the school. Teaching staff work together with senior student facilitators to develop activities focused on creating positive relationships and a co-operative environment, while encouraging personal growth.

    Locker Cleanout Day - June 26, 12:30 p.m. - 3:05 p.m.

All students will need to clean out their lockers and have them completely emptied by 3:05 p.m. on June 26. Locks left on the locker after this day may be cut and material inside may be lost.

    Grade 9 Math EQAO Test
Friday, June 9, 2017 - 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon

The Grade 9 Math EQAO test is on Friday, June 9, 2017. This test is mandatory for all Grade 9 Pre-AP, Gifted, Academic and Applied students.

If your child is NOT writing this test, then your child is expected to stay at home in the morning and arrive at school for the start of tutorials at 1:00 p.m. For more information and the schedule, please click on the Grade 9 Math EQAO flyer.

    June 2017 Exam Schedule

The June 2017 Exam schedule can now be downloaded using this link. Please note that exams will run from Monday, June 12 to Friday, June 23. Students with special needs who qualify for extra time for their exams must sign up in Room 102 in the Special Education Department no later than Wednesday, May 31, 2017

ESL students who qualify for extra time will need to sign up with Mrs. Lau no later than Wednesday, May 31, 2017.

Students will receive an individualized student examination timetable at a later date.

Relay For Life is a community fundraising event where Canadians across the country join together in the fight against cancer. This year our event will run from 12 noon until 8 pm.

    OSSLT Literacy Test - Thursday, March 31, 2016

The OSSLT Literacy Test is on Thursday, March 30, 2017.     Grade 10 Literacy MOCK (Practice) EQAO Test

In order to prepare our students for the upcoming OSSLT on Thursday, March 30, 2017, Grade 10 students and those required to write the OSSLT will participate in the Grade 10 Literacy Mock EQAO on Thursday, February 23, 2017.     Community Connections Fair - Open House on April 8, 2017

    Meningococcal Immunization Clinic on January 27, 2017

Nurses from Toronto Public Health will be here on Friday, January 27, 2017 for the Meningococcal Immunization Clinic.

The clinic will be held in Room 170/Small Caf. from 9 - 3 p.m.

For those students who need to visit the clinic and have not yet returned their consent forms, please return your forms to the main office tomorrow, Jan. 27.

Also, on the day of the clinic, students should wear short sleeves or a long loose sleeved top and eat breakfast and lunch.

    Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)

PLAR is a “challenge” that allows students to earn secondary school diploma credits for learning that happens outside the classroom. You may request a formal evaluation of your skills and knowledge against the expectations outlined in the Ontario curriculum for current Grades 10, 11 and 12 courses taught in TDSB schools.

Through the PLAR process, it is recommended that students may “challenge” one credit per year,and earn no more than four credits including a maximum of two credits in any one discipline.     Grade 12 AP Calculus and Grade 10 Civics Exams
(Jan. 18, 2017)


On Wednesday, January 18 we will be running an ½ exam day in the morning and running only periods 1 and 2 in the afternoon. Only Grade 12 AP Calculus students and Grade 10 Civics students will be writing exams in the morning.

Grade 12 AP Calculus students will be writing from 8:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Grade 10 Civics students will be writing from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. All other students are to remain at home for the morning.

In the afternoon, we will be running Periods 1 and 2 for all students starting at 12:25 p.m. and ending at 3:05 p.m. For more information, please click on this link.

    Pre-AP Test Dates for MAPP Program (2016-2017)
(Thurs. Jan. 12 and Sat. Jan. 14)


The MAPP (Martingrove Advanced Placement Program) test dates will be on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 6 p.m. OR on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. Please ensure that your child writes on the date selected on the application package.     Booking Parent-Teacher Interviews

Scheduling/booking appointments for parent-teacher interviews will begin November 21, 2016 at 7 p.m. to November 28 at 12 noon.

Online booking instructions have been included with the report card packages distributed on Thursday, November 17, 2016 to all students.

If parents/caregivers did not receive the online booking instructions, please contact the main office. Once parents/caregivers have the online booking instructions and the online booking site is open, parents/caregivers can begin booking appointments.

MCI would like to formally invite you to either of our Grade 8 Parent Information Presentations (Nov. 9 or Nov. 17) for those students entering Grade 9 in the 2017/2018 academic school year. The purpose of these evenings is to familiarize parents and students with the programs offered at MCI such as the Advanced Placement Program, Gifted Program, SHSM, and our other exceptional programs.

MCI will be hosting its 50th Annual Commencement ceremony on Friday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium with a reception to follow. Graduates should check their coats and assemble in the cafeteria by 6:30 p.m.

Nuit Blanche: A Night of Shadows

The Martingrove Stage Company is pleased to announce its first annual Nuit Blanche Art Festival. The event will take place on Friday September 30th, from 7-9 PM as a celebratory kick off to the city of Toronto’s Nuit Blanche festival on October 1st. Nuit Blanche, which is French for sleepless night, is an annual art festival that takes place from sunset to sunrise and features over 90 contemporary art projects created and presented by more than 300 local, national, and international artists. The exhibits are situated all over Toronto turning our city into one gigantic art gallery. MCI’s Nuit Blanche: A Night of Shadows will attempt to capture the spirit of the real sleepless night in our two hour gallery showcase of student art. The showcase will feature student artists integrating their own work with the work of others. The night is intended to be an interactive experience as the audience wanders throughout the school to view our exhibits. There will be music, dancing, visual and conceptual art, shadow puppetry, theatre, acrobatics, and more! In addition, we are excited to be hosting guest artists including Ms. Vibert and her senior dance class from Oakwood Collegiate. Concessions will also be available for purchase.

Ms. Keane and Ms. Yarmol, in association with our student artists, would like to invite the parents and students of Martingrove Collegiate to attend this avant-garde event. Waterloo Electric Vehicle Challenge

Martingrove Transportation - Waterloo Electric Vehicle Challenge 

Hosted by Waterloo University Engineering, the Waterloo Electric Vehicle (EV) Challenge encourages students to design and test their own electric car in an annual endurance competition.

Martingrove Collegiate will be the first TDSB high school to compete in this challengeCompeting against other Canadian high schools through hard work and determination, Martingrove students will attempt to be competitive first time out. The team is named Bear Speed and is being sponsored by Woodbine Toyota. The Environment, Performance, Comfort, Serviceability, Quality, Innovation and Endurance are the design targets the team is striving for.

The team is designing, building and testing 2 electric cars to compete in a 12 and 24 volt endurance race.  In addition to being competitive in racing, the team hopes to get recognition in awards being given in: 
-Design & Presentation
-Quality Manufacturing
-Rookie of the Year
