Mason Road’s Google Calendar
We’re very excited to share the good news that Mason Road has a Google Calendar on our website homepage (please click the link below:
Mason Road families can find upcoming dates for school events, including sport dates, our Grade 6’s going to Kearney in April, and more and more.
Parking Lot issues – on-going
Our school parking lot remains closed for time being, but we only need a short while longer. The snow/ice mound has shrunk dramatically and looks like it’s almost melted. As soon as those parking spots open up, we’ll reopen the parking lot for our kiss ‘n ride.
We would highly encourage drivers to use side streets for parking spots (please check posted street signs) and walk students, utilizing the cross walk and crossing guard.
We have also come to learn that many homeowners in the area are feeling frustrated and have made calls into parking enforcement. We don’t want any parents receiving parking tickets, so please obey the post street signs.
Lunchbox lunches update!
Mason Road has ended Harvey’s on Tuesday, due to lack of interest. Pizza Pizza is still available to purchase on Fridays. Please go on SchoolCashOnline to place your orders for next week.
The Holy Month of Ramadan Continues
As the holy month of Ramadan continues, we’re supporting our students, who are fasting, by providing a space in our school library during lunch times to try and avoid the temptation of watching other students eat.
Mason Road’s Grade 5 Boys Basketball Team: Congratulations to the Boys Basketball team that won the City Finals and brought back Mason Road’s first ever green banner. It is proudly displayed in our school office for now, until we permanently hang it in our gymnasium for decades to come! Go Mustangs!

What a week at Mason Road Jr. P.S.!!!

Lunchbox is here!

Starting next week, Mason Road is excited to announce that we have a partnership with LunchBox, a lunch provider for schools who use outside vendors. Next week, the ordering will go live where families can order Harvey’s on Tuesdays and Pizza Pizza on Fridays every week. The beauty of LunchBox is that all the ordering is done ONLY on SchoolCash Online, so families can log-in and place their order the week prior from the comfort of their home. No forms needed. No cash or change necessary.

What’s even better is, once the order is placed, your family’s order arrives individually wrapped with the student’s name on it. So, if you place an order for 2 cheese slices for your student, then they will be have their slices arrive in individual cardboard boxes with their name on it.

What a week at Mason Road Jr. P.S.!!!

This week’s Mason Mustang Round Up’s focus is centered around our Terry Fox run that took place throughout the day on Friday.

First, let me congratulate everyone on a job well done for bringing in their Toonie for Terry and participating in the Terry Fox Run!

We’re still collecting donations until Thursday, so if you wish to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation, we will accept it until Meet the Teacher Night. At that time, we’ll calculate the total amount that Mason Road Jr. P.S. is donating to this great cause.

The run was a huge success! Students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 participated at different times throughout the day and after they finished their run, were treated to a giant freezie. Thank you to the Mason Rd School Council for donating the freezies for our students! (Check out a few photos below)

CAT4 testing took place this past week for Grades 2, 4, 5, and 6 (Grade 1 and Grade 3 students do not participate in this testing). Our students did a fantastic job of concentrating and focusing on their work. Our teachers are super proud of their strong effort!

This coming week, X-Movement is coming back to Mason Road this Monday – Thursday. Every class will have at least 2 periods throughout the week where they will be participating in Footy (also known as Australian Rules Football).

X-Movement will also be joining Mason Road on Thursday evening at the Meet the Teacher Night in our auditorium. Families are welcome to stop in and join in the fun that they will be putting on!!!

Mason Mustang Round-Up

September 13th, 2024

Good afternoon, everyone! We had a great week at Mason Road Jr. P.S.

This week’s Mason Mustang Round Up is going to be centered around the amazing clubs and teams that have started up, as well as a general update to the community about exciting events taking place.

As we’re now in the full swing of the school year at Mason Road, students can start to join the clubs and sports teams that have been communicated on our morning announcements. Cross Country is slated to start Monday morning at 8:15am on the back field. A special thank you goes out to the teachers that have given up their personal time to coach the Mason Road runners from Grade 1-6. The Cross-Country meet date hasn’t been announced yet, but as soon as we get the date and location, we’ll be sure to share.

Our annual Terry Fox run is this coming Friday. Thank you to everyone who has sent in a “Toonie for Terry” (or any donation). All donations will be sent directly to the Terry Fox Foundation, which goes towards cancer research. Our run on Friday will be throughout the day, so students can check in with their teacher to see what time of day that they’ll be running.

CAT4 testing starts on Monday for Grades 2, 4, 5, and 6. Grade 1 and Grade 3 students do not participate in this testing. The purpose of this testing is to identify the strengths and needs of our students and help our teachers and staff identify the areas in which we need to improve/focus on in the coming school year.

Important Upcoming dates:

  • Week of Sept. 16th - CAT4 testing (Grade 2, 4, 5, and 6)
  • Sept. 20th – Terry Fox Run

Mason Mustang Round Up

September 6th, 2024

Welcome back! What a great start up to this school year. Thank you everyone!!!

This week’s Mason Mustang Round Up is going to be centered around student safety, particularly within our school parking lot.

Last school year, we had several near-misses, where students were almost hit by a parent’s vehicle in our school parking lot. We also had one of our staff member’s vehicle hit by accident. In an effort to avoid these situations, we have started our Kiss ‘N Ride program, supervised by teachers and staff. Parents are welcome to drive into our school parking before and after school to drop off and pick up their students. Unfortunately, we do not have the space to welcome parent vehicles into our lot to park and wait. At dismissal, if parents are early, they’re asked not to enter the parking lot until 3:25pm.

We have received many inquiries into where parents can park their vehicles when they wish to walk their students to their school door in the morning or after school. We suggest parking on a side street where the posted signs allow parking.

We appreciate the community’s support with this new normal.

Important Upcoming dates:

  • Week of Sept. 16th - CAT4 testing (Grade 2, 4, 5, and 6)
  • Sept. 20th – Terry Fox Run
  • Oct. 1st + 2nd – Toronto Fire Safety Presentation (all grades)
