The Alternative School's school year is divided into four sections called quads. Quad 1, 2, 3, 4, starts in September, November, February, and April, respectively. Each quad lasts for nine weeks. (the school year still has winter break in December/January and March break). Enrolled students attend two courses per quad for a total of eight potential credits earned in one school year. The school follows the same secondary school schedule that we begins in September and ends in June (exact dates vary depending on the school year). Classes start at 9:30 AM and run to 2:20PM.
Alternative School is home to many supportive adults. With two full time classroom teachers, a curriculum leader, office administrator, child and youth counsellor, and itinerant special education teacher, students have access to a wide array of supports and resources.
