Lunch Program

Lunch Program Policy

There is a supervised lunch program available for pupils in Kindergarten to Grade 5 that is supervised by ECEs (Kindergarten) and Lunchroom Supervisors.  It is our belief that it is beneficial for children to go home for lunch where they may enjoy a full break from the school routine and return refreshed for the afternoon session.  However, that is not always possible and the lunch program is primarily provided for children whose parents are working or where adequate supervision is not available or when distance is a factor.

Please make sure that your child's teacher is aware if your child is leaving school at lunchtime.

The Lunch Lady meets provincial nutrition guidelines for healthy schools. You can count on them to offer balanced healthy choices with more whole grains, veggies and fruits, lean protein and less fat, sugar and sodium. The Lunch Lady works with suppliers, Regional Boards of Health, parents and kids to design menus that will appeal to children and provide them with the energy they need to support a great afternoon of learning at school.

This year, we are going to continue the “reduce, reuse and recycle” initiative in the lunchroom so we will need your help in encouraging the students to bring in litterless lunches to school.  Students will take home food that has not been consumed at school for parents to monitor.
