Exploring Space

There is nothing quite like staring up into a night sky full of stars to fill us with awe and wonder. SOES provides a chance to see them in a way that just doesn't happen in the city.  It's difficult to get a sense of size and space as we look at the sky but here are some follow up activities you can use back at school to give students a more realistic concept of this.
  • No, you are not the centre of the universe is an awe inspiring video clip that looks at planets and stars and galaxies to give us a sense of size.
  • It's All Relative helps students explore the relative distances between planets in the schoolyard.
  • How Big?  helps the students grasp the relative sizes of the planets compared to the sun through finding objects in the school yard.
