To ensure a successful day, it is essential to review BOTH the Program Specific Information below AND the General Guidelines!

 

Program Specific Information

1. Organize students into groups of 4; maximum number of groups: 8. 

2. Before coming, remind students:

  • this program is not “an outing”, it is a “work day”
  • dress appropriately - as afternoon activities are completed “rain or shine”
  • good sidewalk etiquette is required - walking in pairs behind each other and leaving enough space on the sidewalk for other pedestrians
  • bring an extra bottle of water - no drinking fountains
  • all program materials, including pencils and clipboards, are provided

3. Students need to bring a packed lunch and a drink. Water only please, soft drinks and juice dehydrate students. TUSC is a Platinum EcoSchool - Waste - Free Lunches are expected!

4. ADULTS need three TTC fares: one to get to the TUSC lab, one to get to King Street between Jarvis and Church Street and one to get back to school. 12 years old and under travel for free on the TTC

 

Location and Travel Instructions

 

The program starts at our computer lab in Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute, and ends at St. James’ Cathedral, north side of King Street East at Church Street.

by TTC:

  • take the Bloor Danforth line to Greenwood Station
  • walk West along Strathmore Blvd
  • enter Danforth CTI at the Southeast corner of Greenwood and Strathmore

by School Bus:

drop-off: Busses stop the West side of Greenwood Avenue in front of Danforth CTI (800 Greenwood Avenue) 
pick-up: Students are picked up at St. James’ Cathedral (east side of Church Street just north of King Street).Groups using school busses should note that travel from DCTI to St. James’ Cathedral is via TTC (unless the bus stays with you); one fare per adult is required.
