The use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) software is revolutionizing the world of map making. Choose this program to introduce your students to these exciting technologies!

 

The morning is spent introducing students to the field work portion of the day, which includes the use of a GPS device. Students then work in small groups using GPS units and digital cameras to complete field activities.

Back in the TUSC IT lab, students use ArcGIS Online (cloud-based software licensed by the Board) through the afternoon to generate a map of their results.

Program Length: one day (9:30 am - 2:00 pm)
Availability: fall (September to November), spring (mid-April to June)
Location: TUSC IT Lab, local area around Danforth CTI
Fee: $300.00 per class

User fees help ensure the continuation of these learning experiences through partial cost recovery; fee schedule reflect rates subsidized by the Toronto District School Board.

TTC: each student requires 2 TTC tickets
