Anne Michaels

With her stunning debut novel, Fugitive Pieces, Anne Michaels caused a stir that was felt in literary circles around the globe. Ten years in the making, Fugitive Pieces won Anne Michaels the Trillium Prize, the Chapters/Books in Canada First Novel Award, the Beatrice and Martin Fischer Award (the main prize in the Jewish Book Awards), England’s prestigious Orange Prize, and others. To date, rights to the novel have been sold to twenty-four countries in twenty-two languages. The novel also earned Anne Michaels a place on the shortlists of the Giller Prize and the Canadian Booksellers Association Author of the Year Award.

Previously acclaimed for two award-winning books of poetry, The Weight of Oranges and Miner’s Pond, Anne Michaels is identified today as one of Canada’s leading literary talents. She lives in Toronto, where she is currently working on a second novel.
