On Friday Dec. 9th guidance and admin staff met with VRA students by grade and program in order to better understand the impact of school closure on the students and to collect their ideas around making their school transition at the end of this year as positive as possible.

TDSB Teaching and Learning staff are involved in assisting us to meet will all students to help them choose their new school. This week we met with grade 12 students who wish to return to high school next year. On January 13th we will meet with students in grades 9-11 in the regular program and they will complete a survey that will include the identification of their top school choices for next year. Once we have compiled information about school choices, visits to those schools will be arranged and option sheets accessed and completed during January and early February.

Guidance Counsellors and Student Success, ESL and Special Education teachers will meet with students individually to support them as needed to make their school choice.

There will be tours arranged, course selection sheets completed and orientation programs organized for students in the Interact program moving to Oakwood and in pre-I.B. classes or the I.B. Diploma moving to Weston C.I. Students who are unsure about whether they will stay in either the Interact or I.B. Program may take place in tours to other schools and work with I.B. and Interact staff to review their choices.

This process will be further discussed with parents at our January School Council Meeting-moved to Tuesday January 17th at 6:30 p.m.

Please see below for School Council Agenda under SCHOOL COUNCIL.

We wish all of our VRA Families a very Happy Holiday Season.
Thank you for your tremendous support this fall.
