Health and Physical Health Education

The goal of the Health and Physical Education Department is to provide a variety of opportunities for students to develop Physical Literacy, Health Literacy and Self Confidence. Courses are designed to help students develop the knowledge and decision making skills required to lead healthy, active lives both now and in the future.  

Learning occurs through a variety of physical activities that aim to improve movement competencies and personal fitness and a selection of classroom based health activities. The health curriculum develops student understanding in the following areas:

  • Mental Health, 
  • Healthy Eating, 
  • Personal Safety and Injury Prevention, 
  • Substance Use, Addictions, and Related Behaviours and
  • Human Development and Sexual Health.
