CONCERT BAND

The Albert Campbell Concert Band is a performing ensemble for all grade 9 band students.  This ensemble ensures that the youngest instrumentalists continue to practice their skills throughout the school year. The weekly afternoon rehearsal supplements the learning that takes place during the day, combining every grade 9 band class into one large ensemble.  The Concert Band performs at the annual Performing Arts Assemblies, Winter Music Night and Spring Colours concerts.

JAZZ BAND

The Jazz Band is an energetic junior ensemble for music students in grades 9 and 10. They perform a variety of jazz, latin, swing, funk, rock and R&B music. This ensemble gives grade 9 students a chance to learn a secondary instrument if they do not already play a jazz instrument.  The Jazz Band performs for the Performing Arts Assemblies, our feeder school concerts, Winter Music Night and our Spring Colours concert.

SYMPHONIC BAND

Symphonic Band is an intermediate ensemble for all grade 10 band students.  Participation in Symphonic Band provides students the opportunity to earn an additional repertoire credit by attending after school rehearsals.  In addition to performing in all school concerts and assemblies, the Symphonic Band also competes at the Ontario Band Association Festival each year.

DRUMLINE

Drumline is an open extra-curricular ensemble for all grades and levels of experience. This unique and exciting ensemble performs at various events throughout the school year, including the Performing Arts Assemblies, Winter Music Night and our Spring Colours concert.

CONCERT CHOIR

Concert Choir is Albert Campbell’s largest choir with up to one hundred members.  Concert Choir is open to all students in the school with or without singing experience.  The choir performs repertoire in different languages and a variety of styles from early music to contemporary.  The Concert Choir performs for the Performing Arts Assemblies, Winter Music Night, our feeder schools, and our Spring Colours concert.

MIXED VOICES

Mixed Voices is a student-run choir.  The student conductors choose the repertoire and rehearse the music themselves.  Student conductors for this choir are appointed by music department staff and singers must audition for positions in the choir each year.  Repertoire for this choir is often contemporary popular music.  Mixed Voices performs for the Performing Arts Assemblies, Winter Music Night, our feeder schools, and our Spring Colours concert.

MUSIC COUNCIL

Music Council is a team of music students from grades 9-12 with strong leadership skills.  Music Council is responsible for organizing the end of the year banquet, fundraising events, designing and purchasing spirit wear, as well as assisting the music department in organizing concerts and events.  Students must apply to be accepted to the Music Council and the executives are elected by council members each year.
