Offensive Strategies

• Make short passes
• Move/cut to open space
• Communicate with team mates
• Move into position behind the ball
• Get ready quickly after a turnover

Defensive Strategies

• Block passing lanes of offense
• Anticipate the throw
• Get into position to remove offensive player’s flag
• Defend a pass by intercepting it

Maintain Possession of Ball

• Listen for a call from an open team mate
• Be ready to send the ball
• Move the ball closer to the goal area
• Run forward with speed to receive a ball

How to send a Rugby Ball

• Keep your knees bent
• Keep eyes on target (player)
• Grip ball with both hands
• Sweep your arms across body
• Flick wrists

How to receive a Rugby Ball

• Provide target "W" hands
• Keep eyes on target (ball)
• Reach out to meet ball
• Catch with two hands
• Tuck ball to body and prepare to run
