Birchmount Park is a proud GOLD level Eco-school.
The Birchmount Park Environmental Action Council seeks to help achieve a sustainable world and protect the environment for its human and non-human inhabitants. The EAC provides students with leadership opportunities while involving all staff and students in our campaigns.
The EAC aims to raise the consciousness of Birchmount Park’s students to effect change of their own actions on the environment and to their status as stewards of this planet’s resources. We advocate specific changes at the school.
Some of our activities include:
- Great Canadian Shoreline
- Weekly Recycling - Classroom and Hallways
- Waste Reduction Week
- Waste Audit
- Energy Walkabouts
- Participation in BEST Olympics
- Classroom Visits
- Tree Planting
- Earth Hour & Earth Week
- Weeding our Wildflower Garden
- Outdoor Clean-ups
- Planning for our new Teaching Garden Field Trips!
We meet on a weekly basis, usually on Mondays at lunch, and welcome anyone who would like to participate.
