Students who reside within the City of Toronto have the right to attend a school which is designated to serve their residential address. The "Find Your School" section of the website identifies the designated schools for each residential address.

Students also have the opportunity to access schools outside of the school that is designated to serve their home address by applying for Out-of-Area Admissions. Acceptance at these schools is subject to space availability and program suitability. Find more information and details here.

If you are interested in attending a school other than your designated school by address, each student can submit one online application. When applying for Out-of-Area admissions in September 2024, applicants may include one (1) school choice in their application.

Transportation is the responsibility of the applicant when attending an Out-of-Area school.

Applicants may select Regular program, Early Immersion or a Middle/Extended Immersion Program. If selecting a French program, the applicant must already be enrolled or registered for the selected French program.

Students in Kindergarten to Grade 7, who are currently attending school In-Person will be able to request Virtual Learning for the 2024 - 2025 school year through the Out-of-Area Admission process. Students will be able to select Virtual Learning Elementary as their desired school in the drop down list of schools. While it is our goal to accommodate as many requests for virtual in the 2024 - 2025 school year, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be met.

For more information about Virtual Learning, please read the 2024 - 2025 Virtual Learning Q & A, visit the website: https://www.tdsb.on.ca/Elementary-School/Virtual-Learning or speak with your school Principal.

Students applying for Out-of-Area Admissions in JK should also still register at their local/designated school by address in case they are not selected at their requested school. If selected, the parent/guardian/caregiver must notify the local school.

Attending an Out-of-Area School by Way of Child Care

Children attending preschool programs in a TDSB school other than the one designated by address can continue attending for Junior Kindergarten, as long as they participate in the Before- and After-School Program (BASP) until the end of Grade 3. Students from Out-of-Area who no longer participate in the BASP are expected to move to their designated school by address to begin the next school year. To remain at the current school, the student must apply through Out-of-Area Admissions. The Elementary Out-of-Area Admissions application will remain open until Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

Should the school have space, the student may be permitted to remain until the end of the grade range of the school. In this situation, students are given priority status, second only to applicants with siblings already attending and returning to the school. Students will not be able to continue to attend a school that is Closed to Out-of-Area Admissions. This was outlined and shared with families at the start of Junior Kindergarten through PR545C: Out-of-Area and Withdrawal from Child Care or formerly the Optional Attendance and Withdrawal from Child Care forms. A listing of the Out-of-Area Admissions status for all schools can be found on the Out-of-Area Admissions website.

*Note: This does not apply to students attending a school through Out-of-Area Admissions (former Optional Attendance), a Special Education Intensive Support Program or Early French Immersion.
