The Young Women on the Move Program is where girls will be given a chance to be part of the TDSB school initiative program that is looking to empower young girls to be agents of change. COVID has had such a profound impact on students' mental health well-being. TDSB has provided extra funding to help with programs like Young Women on the Move to help develop and encourage strong, responsible and resilient girls. Part of the program allows us to meet, work on small projects, have special guest speakers and field trips.
This is a special time dedicated for the girls to form and build new friendships where they can be a positive influence to others in their class, school and community. Our teachers will be working closely with the girls to develop ideas that will drive them to work on fun projects, build relationships, create strong minds and help make positive contributions to the community they live in. Most importantly, the girls will learn to work collaboratively and share ideas to help empower themselves and others in years to come. Our goal will be to facilitate and have discussions surrounding important topics such as: self-respect, social actions, contributions to the community, identity and power and leadership. Our teachers will work to help create and put their ideas into action.
