Scientists in School

Scientists in School
by Jolie W.

On Tuesday, Rm.105 had Scientists in School. We learned about Forces and Magnetism. There were words on the board. The words were: Force, Gravity, Magnetic Force, Electro Static Force, Contact, Non-Contact, Balanced, Unbalanced, Attract, Repel, Push and Pull.

We were separated into five groups. The Scientist’s name was Jill. There was a measuring force group, and Paul was in charge of that group. We matched grip strength and we catapulted a pom-pom. There was a group that we did with Scientist Jill, we had to make a piece of wood go faster using marbles. We each had a turn riding on the wood.

Raguna was in charge of another group. We tried to see how many grams are needed to make a pumpkin basket touch the ground. At another group we wrote “Gravity treats everything the same”. We tried to make a bridge out of dominos and not touch the blue part of the paper, which represented water. In the last group we hammered a nail. We used a magnet to stick paperclips. There were so many paperclips.

It was a wonderful presentation!
