Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Families,

Welcome students, parents, caregivers and community partners to the General Crerar Public School community website. Our school is located in mid-Scarborough within close proximity to a public library, a high school and a community recreation centre and park.

I look forward to meeting and engaging with new and returning students and families for this promising school year. General Crerar embraces the core values of educating students, academic achievement and social-emotional well-being in order for all to be successful. Staff will work to ensure that the curriculum is relevant, interesting, meaningful, differentiated and engaging for students of all learning needs and diversities of learning styles so that the strengths of each child are nurtured.

We embrace a learning environment that embeds inclusion, equity and diversity. Integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) using 21st-century learning tools including iPads, Laptops, SmartBoards, Robotics and other software applications, we will foster interdisciplinary learning while making local and global connections in the curriculum and teaching/learning environment. We will work to ensure that students have a solid literacy and numeracy foundation required for success after elementary school by fostering the love of reading, writing and mathematical thinking.

As a triple-track school, our learning community serves students in the English Track, French Immersion Track, and ISP/Special Education (Gr. 1-8). We are a participating school in the Model Schools for Inner Cities Program and the TDSB Eco-schools program.

Please visit this school website often for important information and follow us on Twitter @GenCrerar and @MrsSharonLin for ongoing events. Parents, please also ensure that the school has your most current phone numbers and email contact information. We will be sending reminder emails to read our Newsletters, which are also embedded in the website. We are always eager to link our families to the community and work with our community partners to support our families. Our active Parent Council also works tirelessly to bring fun, family events to the school on a regular basis.

On behalf of our staff, I look forward to an exciting school year in which students' learning will flourish as they become respectful creative thinkers and problem solvers.
