Dear Kingsview Families:

Welcome!  We would like to share some important information with you in advance of the beginning of school next week. The majority of this information is for students who will be attending in school.  COVID-19 has made many changes to how we live our lives, and this school year will look and feel different than before as many of our routines have changed for health and safety reasons.  This includes entry and exit routines, restricting movement of students and adults inside the school, washroom, recess and lunch routines, etc.

However, Kingsview Village will still be a positive environment, and we will support the school community and work together to insure health, safety, and well-being, and to provide strong academic programs and support.  Please see below for an update ahead of return to school next week, as well as the Checklist for Elementary students.

We will continue to update you next week.  We are optimistic and hopeful that we will have a successful beginning to the school year, and look forward to seeing students return and to working with you this year.

Thank you and best wishes,

David deBelle, Principal

Angila Roopnarine, Vice-Principal

CHECKING FOR SIGNS OF COVID-19

The most important thing families can do to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to check their children daily for any COVID-19 symptoms and keep them at home if they are sick or have had contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19.  Students will also be checked by their teacher before entry to school, and parents of any children with symptoms will be contacted to pick up their children to bring them home.  All students and adults must put on a mask to enter the school, and it must be worn while in the school.

CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENT

You will be receiving communication from your child’s teacher by Monday September 14th

ENTRY AND EXIT

For health and safety reasons, we have to limit the number of people in the building.  Therefore, parents may not enter the school to drop off their children, or to pick up their children at the end of the day.  Late arrivals/visitors to the school will have to ring the buzzer, and office staff will check late arrivals for any COVID symptoms and assist students with entry to their classrooms.  If you are coming to pick up your child early, please ring the bell, let our office staff know who you are picking up, and wait outside for them.  If you require a meeting with someone in the school, please call ahead to schedule an appointment.

LUNCH

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO HOT LUNCH PROGRAM AT THIS TIME.  STUDENTS NEED TO BRING THEIR LUNCH TO SCHOOL IN THE MORNING.  PARENTS MAY NOT ENTER THE SCHOOL AT LUNCHTIME TO BRING LUNCH FOR THEIR CHILDREN.

Students are strongly encouraged to remain at school for lunch.  If students return home, they should not return back to school until the entry bell please.  Students will be eating lunch in their classrooms and will be bringing home any left over lunch or waste so it is encouraged to bring a litterless lunch. This should include a water bottle with the students’ name on it which can be refilled while they are at school.  Water fountains cannot be used, but we do have water bottle refill stations.

COLD AND RAINY WEATHER

Students will need to have umbrellas and/or rain gear such as boots and raincoats for rainy weather.  If it is raining we cannot accommodate students and families inside the school as in previous years.  Please be prepared for rainy and cold weather!

VIRTUAL SCHOOL

If you do not have a device for your child to use for virtual school, you can request one from Kingsview.  However, please note that almost all of the school devices were given out during the period from March to June and these have not been returned.  We have few if any devices left to give out, so one solution is to purchase a relatively inexpensive Chrome Book if that is possible.

For families who have registered their children for virtual school, there are 3 times during the school year when you may request that your children return to in school learning:  Request by September 30th to return on October 13; Request by November 6 to return on November 23; Request by January 29 to return on February 16.)
