Business & Technology

Business & Technology

The Business and Technology department here at Kipling offers our students exposure to a variety of hands on, experiential courses. Students get a chance to work on real life projects and situations that many of them will be able to apply to their future careers. These classes are offered in clean and well maintained computer labs that are among the best in the TDSB.

The Business Department offers courses and programs to meet a wide variety of students' interests and needs. Introductory business courses, computer applications, marketing, accounting, and sports & entertainment marketing courses are all available for students to choose from. These courses provide students with the opportunity to explore future career decisions before graduating high school.

Business students have the opportunity to take part in DECA. DECA is an international association of high school and college students and teachers of marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service. The organization prepares leaders and entrepreneurs for careers and education in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and other business areas

As a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) school, the Technology program is growing quickly. In the 2015-16 we will be offering computer programming to grades 9 &10 students which is a fundamental skill in the 21st century. We also have established Communication Technology courses leading to the flagship course Switch On in which students use state of the art Broadcast technology producing videos & broadcasting announcements to the entire school on a daily basis.

A large number of Kipling Collegiate graduates will major in some aspect of business, technology or communications. This is not surprising when we consider that most of the jobs for the 21st century require a business and computer background.

We encourage all students to enroll in business courses while they are attending Kipling Collegiate Institute. These courses provide access to higher-paying employment as well as providing a sound foundation for a college or university education.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the courses we offer.
