The English Department at Kipling Collegiate Institute focuses on engaging students while teaching and applying critical literacy skills necessary to navigate the ever-growing textual landscape.
By focusing on media through a lens that examines gender and the world from an Africentric standpoint students find themselves prepared to tackle and discuss issues that matter to them, and that they face on a daily basis.
From current graphic novels and contemporary young adult fiction, to the classics and Shakespeare, the English Department at KCI sharpens the minds of all students before they leave high school behind and step out into lives wholly their own.
