Martingrove Advanced Placement Program (MAPP)

Martingrove Collegiate is proud to offer the Advanced Placement® (AP)  Program to all students who are both interested and qualified. The Pre-AP Program starts in grade Grade 11, with students taking the AP in grade 12 and the AP Exam in May of the year of study.

The AP Program provides students with the necessary skills, knowledge and
foundation for success in post-secondary education. Started in 1955, the College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program enables students to pursue University-level studies while still in high school. Based on their performance on rigorous AP Examinations, students can earn credit, and/or advanced placement, for University in North America and internationally.

Why Should Students Take the Pre-AP and Advanced Placement Program?

Confidence:

Making the transition from high school to post-secondary education, students who have completed the AP Placement Program have shown a greater improvement in skills across the board, leading to an increase in confidence, compared to their peers.

Credit:

Upon entering university, students who have successfully completed the AP Program are able to use these credits to advance to higher-level courses, thus allowing the students to progress quicker towards their degree

University Success:

Providing familiarity to the expectations, and content, of post-secondary courses, AP courses give students a foundation to build upon, at an earlier start. Research consistently suggests this being a main reason AP students achieve greater academic success.
