Silverthorn CI – Parent Council
September 29, 2022 8:00pm in the Library
Welcome
– Adriana Arevalo (Past Chair)
We are looking for volunteers and your participation is encouraged.
Parent council is a great way to be an active part of the school community and know what’s going on with your child to avoid anything falling through the cracks.
Principal’s Report – Sam Iskandar
Student report to come in upcoming meeting as well as Teacher report once they are elected.
Nomination Forms for School Council Executive
Nomination forms for Executive Parent Council were sent out with the agenda
They are due Oct 7th and you can nominate yourself or a friend. Please email nominations to Linda Black (Linda.Black@tdsb.on.ca)
We usually have a Chair (or co-chairs) and a Secretary to take minutes
Unlike elementary there is no dealing with funds
There is $1000 given to spend and historically the Parent Council has elected to give this money to Relay for Life for a breakfast for participants or to contribute to other activities connected to this event
Sometimes the Parent Council has speakers in and funds can be used for that. School has always helped when necessary.

We have been given 2 additional teachers for this semester. Seven classes are being divided in half.
1 teacher is already hired and we are currently interviewing for the other position
