We are so excited to have everyone back with us! Seeing the students back with us is an exciting and joyful experience, and one that we in no way take for granted.
Please check the 2021-2022 School Year section of the TDSB Website for great information about Health and Safety, Ventilation, Mental Health and Well Being, and lots more. Updates are being made regularly and it has the most current practices and procedures.
The following information was accurate as of September 22, 2021:
Verification of Health Screening
Here at Swansea, we are using the TDSB Health Pass to verify student screening each morning. We ask that parents/guardians review the health screening questions with their child(ren) each morning and sign and date the pass. Each child needs to bring this pass with them each day to be verified by their teacher at entry time.
This is the quickest way for us to verify screening and the method we prefer so that everyone can get into their classes as quickly and safely as possible.
The Health Screening App is available for you to use, but teachers cannot use iPads in the schoolyard to see the verification because there is no Wi-Fi availability there.
If you do not use the Health Pass or the app, then your child will be asked the screening questions. If they are well, they will carry on with their class, as usual.
Virtual Learning and Brightspace
The learning platform that we will be using if a class has to move to virtual learning is Brightspace. Student Virtual Learning IT Support page for assistance if you experience any issues logging into Brightspace. Many of our classes will be accessing Google Classroom via Bright Space. We encourage all families to make sure they have student email addresses, student numbers, and passwords.
A commonly asked question is how lunch will work. Students will be eating lunch during instructional time. They will also get a 1-hour break in the middle of the day, but they will not be eating lunch at that time.
Students who go home to eat lunch will be welcome to do so during the 1-hour break. They must have a signed permission form on file and are asked to stay at home until the end of that break. It is important to note that students who eat lunch at home will still be around students who are eating in class during instructional time.
