Welcome to George Anderson Public School!

We are a small, community school, located in the Amesbury neighbourhood, in the former City of North York (now Toronto).  Our nearest major intersection is Keele Street and Lawrence Avenue West. We are a closely knit multicultural school committed to excellence. Our mission is to provide a positive and safe learning environment for all, in which students acquire the necessary skills to meet present and future challenges through comprehensive, equitable and responsive programming.

There is an interesting story surrounding the name of our school.  While the area is home to thousands of people in the present-day, at one time it was an agricultural area.  Mr. George Anderson, a local farmer, donated the property to the board of education and the school opened in 1956.

After several renovations, both inside and out, we continue to be an awesome little school with a big heart.  We are proud to serve  approximately 170 students representing 16 different language groups. Many of our families are relatively new to Canada and it is quite common for many students to speak more than one language.  Our wonderful school is located close to the Amesbury Community Centre and Arena, the Amesbury Park Public Library and Amesbury Park.  In addition to our large schoolyard, our staff and students use the community facilities for enriched, learning experiences.

We are in this together!
