Fundraising

The Downtown VMA is a brand new school and as such could use some assistance in making our school state of the art.  In addition, as a performing school there are many extra fees incurred that other schools don't have.  We would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.

General Donation Form

The Downtown Vocal Music Academy of Toronto has several fundraising campaigns througout the year.  Please check here regularly to see which campaign is currently running.

There are many causes these funds go towards.  Each campaign will state what that cause is.

Information and forms for the campaigns will be posted here.  If you have any further questions, please contact our school office at 416-393-1340.

Vessey Spring Flower Bulbs

Dear Students and Parents,

It’s time for our second annual Vesey’s Bulb/Seed Catalogue fundraiser to raise funds for DVMA’s Classroom Enhancements and Extra-Curricular activities.

Last year our school raised $847.50 – which was 50% of our total sales! This year DVMA SAC used those funds to purchase a full class room set of Ukuleles!  So, what can we do for our school next year?

Campaign Duration

The campaign will start on Friday, March 12th and run until Friday, April 17th

Each student will receive a Full Colour Spring Brochure, a Fundraising Order Form and a Payment Collection envelope.  If you need more order forms, please pick them up from the office.

Payments can be made in Cash or Cheque (Payable to the Downtown Vocal Music Academy).

To guarantee our Spring orders, please submit the [white] copy of the order form along with your money to the office, on or before April 17th

Please keep the [yellow] copy of the order form for your record. In order to get our orders to customers by Victoria long weekend (a perfect gardening weekend!) all orders will be submitted to Vesey’s by April 25th.

Orders will be shipped to the school and will be given back to the students in a delivery bag for their customers.

Strategies…

Like any fundraising project, friends, relatives, neighbours and co-workers are your best bet as customers.  Direct them to our school website to the online link that will take them to Vesey’s 12 page full colour catalogue.

Thanks for supporting your school, DVMA SAC

Piano Restoration Fund

You might like to consider donating "keys on our piano" in honour of a loved one(s) with their name(s) on the donor plaque(s).

We now have the piano in our school - fully restored and magnificent.  Now we have to pay our portion of the restoration costs.  We have only raised $2,000.00 of our $10,000.00 commitment.  Attached is a short video of me playing the newly restored piano in our secure piano storage space adjacent to our auditorium at the school.

Below are a few pictures of the piano at the shop during the restoration process.  The Paul Hahn Company of Toronto, who did the restoration, say that this is one of the best restorations they have done in the history of their company.  They are very proud of the results.  Below are some additional photos taken of our VMA Choir at our Gala Opening Celebration with our piano accompanist, Marjorie Wiens.

Nutrition Program

Our Nutrition Program receives some funding, but it is never enough to cover the full cost of food.  Donations from parents (and corporations) are required to maintain the program for the entire school year. (see our Nutrition Program menu option for more details on the program). Without these donations we would be forced to close the program part way through the year.  TDSB encourages nutrition and regular eating as part of the learning process.  Food is used for energy which keeps students alert and ready to learn.  These programs are crucial to students' success.

Donation forms can be found on our Forms page.  Donors will receive a tax receipt.

Other Items

DVMA is committed to giving all students an enriching learning experience through a variety of ways.  Trips, hiring scientists and artists, acquiring new music and much more.  DVMA is also performance school.  Often, these performances take students all over the province.  With all of these experiences there are costs involved.  Donations towards these items help students get the best experience for learning and provide more opportunities for performing and singing in some unique locations and rare events.
