Welcome to Winchester Jr.Sr. P.S. and to our website!
Winchester Public School, a SK-8 elementary school, has been serving the students of the Cabbagetown and St. James Town neighbourhoods since 1874. The diverse student population represents over 40 countries and languages.
Winchester is transitioning to a single track French Immersion Centre for SK – grade 6. We offer a dual track in English and French for grades 7 and 8. We place a strong emphasis on ensuring an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful learning environment where all students learn and grow.
Winchester is a vibrant school community, offering before, during, and after school opportunities for our students and active partnerships with neighbourhood organizations and schools, including Cabbagetown Youth Centre, Kiwanis Club, Central Neighbourhood House, Right to Play, Big Brothers and Sisters and Green Thumbs Growing Kids.
Winchester's the place to be and it's easy to see why! Our community garden is a hub of activity. Food is grown and harvested for school and community use. There is a compost and water filtration system, both are supported by our student population. Our students are involved in many activities including our well-respected sports teams, our partnerships with Right to Play and Game-On. We have committed students who organize activities through our Student Council and the Social Justice Club and the ECO Club. Students also enjoy intramurals, Glee, Chess, Dance and Coding Clubs, homework help, and serving as school ambassadors.
