Principal's Message

June 15th, 2018

The annual Club Awards ceremony took place on Friday, June 8.  Congratulations to all award nominees and recipients, for their wonderful contribution to clubs this past year.  Thank you to all staff advisors of clubs;  our extra curricular programs depend on their volunteering for these roles.  We really appreciate it!  A special thank you to Student Council, and staff advisors Ms. Gluskin and Ms. Pandurevic for a planning a terrific club awards ceremony and ending another successful year of club activity.

I had the pleasure of attending the Athletic Banquet on Tuesday, June 12.  It was a lovely evening!  Congratulations to all participants, award nominees and award recipients.  I thank York Mills’ Athletic Council (YMAC) members and all student athletes for their participation in school athletics this past year.  Thank you to all teacher coaches for their hours and hours of commitment to our Athletic Program.  I especially thank staff advisors Mr. Cheung, Mr. Kung and Mr. Lee for their strong leadership in Athletics.  

Today was the last day of regular classes for 2017-18.  It is amazing how quickly time has passed!  We wish all students best of success in the upcoming exam session.  A copy of the exam schedule is attached.

Tutorial Mornings

Tutorial Morning will take place from on Monday, June 18 and Tuesday, June 19 from 8:45 – 11:00 a.m.  On both mornings, we will follow a shortened schedule.  Note:  Exams will take place in the afternoon on both dates.  There will be no cafeteria service.

Examination Period

Exams will take place from Monday, June 18 through Tuesday, June 26.  Students received their examination schedule this week.  Copies of the examination schedule are available in the Main Office.

Trustee’s Coffee Get Together

You are invited to join Trustee Gerri Gershon for a Coffee Get Together on Thursday, June 21 at 9:15 a.m. at Longo’s on Laird. 

Opportunity to View Exams

Students will have an opportunity to view their exams on Wednesday, June 27 in the morning.  Please see the examination schedule for details about this day.

Graduation Ceremony

Our annual Graduation Ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Peoples Church (374 Sheppard Avenue East).  The Graduation Ceremony is expected to conclude at approximately 1:00 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased at the Main Office until Wednesday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m.  Tickets will not be available for purchase at the door.  Please note that the school will be closed on this day.

Report Card Pick-Up

Reports cards for Semester 2 will be available for students to pick-up on Friday, June 29.   Students should report to their Home Form classes between 11:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on this day.  Note:  The Main Office and Guidance Office will be closed at 12:00 p.m. on this day so that staff can attend the end-of-year staff meeting.

Summer Office Hours

July 2 – school closed for Canada Day

July 3 to July 12 -  9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

July 13 – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

August 20 to August 30 – 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

August 31  - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

School Year 2018-19

The first day of school for 2018-19 will be Tuesday, September 4.  An information package will be mailed in August for all returning and new students.  If your home address has changed, please notify the Main Office prior to June 29 to ensure that you receive this important package.

Guidance Update

Attention Graduating Students: All graduating students are required to complete a brief survey on-line at: http://WWW.YMGRAD.CA  The deadline for completing the survey has been extended to June 19.  An email containing important information about graduation has been sent to parents/guardians of Grade 12 students.

TDSB Summer School Information

Space is limited in both face-to-face and e-learning classes, so register early!
FACE-TO-FACE SUMMER SCHOOL COURSES:  (Please visit for details and to register)   
  • Registration opened on May 2nd, 2018
  • Registration closes on June 19th, 2018 (students must provide parent consent form to Counsellor for approval by this date as regular classes end and exams begin)
  • How to register:
    • Step 1: TDSB students log into e-Reg and request a course.
    • Step 2: Students make an appointment with their day school guidance counsellor.  Students must provide the signed parent consent form they receive as an attachment from E-Reg.
    • Step 3: Guidance counsellors will approve or deny requests.  Students will receive a confirmation email.
  • Cancelled List will be posted on June 14th, 2018
  • The summer program runs from July 3rd to July 27th
  • Summer School is a 19 day program – students are expected to be on time and in attendance for all classes
  • New Credit (Reach Ahead) classes are full day. Upgrading (Remedial) classes are ½ day - either morning or afternoon
  • Final Culminating Activities are scheduled for July 25
  • Verification day is July 26th and Report Card pick-up is July 27th. (Final Report Cards are not mailed.)

  • Registration is now open.
