Settlement Services at Bliss Carman Sr. PS
Settlement and Education Partnership in Toronto (S.E.P.T.)
Our Settlement Worker provides essential support to students and parents who have recently arrived in Canada. We help guide them through the settlement process, assisting them in adjusting to their new school environment and the broader community. Our goal is to ensure a smooth transition and help them feel more connected and confident in their new home:
Through this program, we provide the following settlement services to support newcomers:
- Needs Assessment and Settlement Planning: A review of newcomers’ settlement needs, followed by the creation of an individualized settlement plan to help ease the transition to life in Canada.
- Information and Support on the Ontario School System: Guidance on navigating the Ontario school system, along with assistance in fostering effective communication between newcomers and the school.
- Workshops with Expert Guest Speakers: Informative sessions led by specialized guest speakers, designed to help parents better understand various aspects of life in Canada. These workshops offer excellent opportunities for learning and connecting with others in the community.
- Access to Free Government and Community Resources: Assistance with housing, health clinics, employment, tax clinics, language classes, volunteering opportunities, and more.
- Free Summer Activities for Children and Youth: Programs designed to help newcomer children and youth succeed in school while participating in fun and educational summer activities.
