Thanks to Avondale Graduate Nazanin N., Class of 2015, we have adopted a new motto at Avondale, Unire: One puzzle, many pieces. We are very proud of this motto as a reflection of who we are; many students, parents and staff from every corner of the world coming together in two different school programs together as one Avondale Schools, and of the very exciting future of possibilities that lie ahead. Unire is from the Latin meaning to unite, to come together.

Avondale serves children from diverse language and cultural backgrounds. We are proud of our students and welcome their enthusiasm, their divergent experiences, their creativity, and their commitment to learning. As a staff, we feel privileged to serve the Avondale neighbourhood by helping to create a tradition of excellence and joy in learning. Drop in for a visit sometime soon - we're confident that you'll like what you see, hear and feel!

FDK – Year 1 Registration for September 2019

Avondale Public School Kindergarten Registration Week

As we near the halfway point to this school year we take the next steps in preparing for the year to come. Junior Kindergarten registration for September 2019 for the Public School begins February 4. If you have a child; or know a friend, neighbour or relative who has a child, born in the year 2015 AND the permanent residential address identifies Avondale PS as the home school please call 416-395-3130 to book a registration appointment. We encourage potential registrants to drop by the school office, in February, prior to the appointment in order to pick up the registration package. Completing the paperwork at home definitely expedites the process.

Parents will be able to complete the registration form for their child, new to TDSB schools, on-line. A follow up appointment at the school with the required documentation listed below will complete the registration.

• Proof of age (birth certificate/passport/PR Card)

• Proof of address (two pieces of identification that show your address: purchase or lease/rental agreement as well as a utility bill, bank statement… A driver’s license cannot be accepted as a proof of residency)

• Proof of immunization

• Verification of date of arrival, if your child was not born in Canada. Families who are permanent residents and refugee claimants may register directly at the school. Children without immigration status are welcome in our schools and information about them or their families will not be shared with immigration authorities. To register, please visit the International Programs and Admissions Office at 5050 Yonge Street, Toronto, for a TDSB school admission letter.

Please note: Only parents or legal guardians can register a child for TDSB programs.

As approved by the Board of Trustees, June 21, 2017, a special Optional Attendance Policy is in place for siblings impacted by the new Avondale Public School boundary which takes effect for September 2018. A copy of the Special Policy and Optional Attendance Form are attached.
