Avondale Elementary Alternative School and Avondale Public School OPEN HOUSE

Welcome to Avondale Schools!

Nestled in the heart of the Avondale community, our school proudly serves families from a rich tapestry of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. We celebrate the enthusiasm, creativity, and diverse experiences our students bring to the classroom, and we remain deeply committed to nurturing their love of learning.

Avondale is proud to be part of a walking-friendly neighborhood, and we encourage families to take advantage of this by walking to and from school whenever possible. Choosing active transportation not only promotes healthy habits but also supports our commitment to environmental sustainability and strengthens our ECO Schools standing.

To help reduce traffic congestion during pick-up and drop-off times, we kindly ask all families to:

  • Respect posted street parking signs and bylaws
  • Avoid blocking driveways or creating unsafe conditions
  • Consider walking or carpooling when possible

Together, we can build a safer, greener, and more connected school community.

At the heart of our school culture are the Avondale Agreements, a set of shared values that guide how we learn, interact, and grow together. These agreements help create a welcoming, respectful, and safe environment for all:

  • Be Kind – I treat others the way I want to be treated.
  • Take Responsibility – I think before I act and accept when I’ve made a mistake.
  • Stand Up for What’s Right – I speak up and get help if I see something hurtful.
  • Celebrate Differences – I respect and appreciate what makes each of us special.
  • Be Safe Online and Offline – I use kind words and make smart choices everywhere.
  • Use Respectful Words and Actions – I speak and act in ways that make everyone feel safe and valued.

These principles reflect the Toronto District School Board’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and student well-being, as outlined in the Multi-Year Strategic Plan and Caring & Safe Schools initiatives.

By embracing the Avondale Agreements, we ensure that every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive
