Beverley School has a rich history as the first school for students with developmental disabilities in downtown Toronto. It housed the first swimming event at the Special Olympics in 1969.
Beverley School is a strong community of learners that have varying abilities and strengths. Students and parents are always welcomed. Parents are very much part of the school and their child's education. We have high expectations for our students and they are always demonstrating their skills and knowledge. Our goal is for every student to be as independent as possible and to have a communication system that suits their needs to give them a voice and develop self advocacy. We're always looking outside the box to improve student learning. We have had ground breaking research initiatives in the use of AAC in our classrooms using iPads and eye gaze technology. The staff at Beverley encourage the students to participate in creative experiences such as drum circle, art activities, and Friday music.
Beverley School has always been a vibrant community of learners, educators, and families. It continues to be a warm welcoming space for students and families.
