COMMON UNDERSTANDINGS AND EXPECTATIONS
Attendance and Punctuality
- The school bell rings at 8:40 a.m. All students are expected to be in their homeroom class by 8:45 a.m.
- At 8:45 a.m, a bell will ring to mark the beginning of instruction. Students arriving after this bell has rung are considered late. Once the opening exercises have started, students and others in the halls must stop where they are and stand for our national anthem. Students arriving after O Canada are asked to go to the office to sign in and get a late slip. For those students who go home for lunch, students must be in their classes no later than 12:25 p.m. After that time they will be marked late.
Student Absences
- If a student is to be absent from school, parents are asked to call (416) 395-2130 to leave a message with the reason for the absence in the Safe Arrival voicemail box.
Valuables
- All personal items such as money, jewelry and technology are the sole responsibility of the student. We recommend that personal property or large amounts of money not be brought to school. The school cannot be held responsible for these items.
School Books
- School books lent to a student by the school are the student’s personal responsibility. The student must pay the replacement cost of any damaged or lost books within 2 weeks.
Skateboards, Roller Blades, Scooters, Bicycles, Shoes with Wheels
- For the safety of all, roller blades are not to be used in the school building or on school property. Skateboards, bicycles, scooters and shoes with wheels are not brought to school at all because they present a storage concern as well.
