Castlebar Junior School (GR. JK-5)

Castlebar Junior School opened in September 2019.  For the 2019-2020 school year Castlebar served students in Kindergarten to Grade 3.  In 2021-2022, we extended our school to grade 4.  This year, 2021-2022 our grade growth is complete with the addition of grade five class.  Our grade 5 students will graduate in June and will attend Norseman Junior/Middle School for grade 6 in 2022-2023.

This quaint, neighbourhood school originally opened in 1957, serving the Queensway Area until the Castlebar Junior School students transferred to Norseman Junior Middle School in 1981 due to declining enrolment. The Castlebar school site was then used in variety of capacities to serve the community.  However, due to the recent increase of residential development in the area there has been a need to re-open Castlebar Junior School to accommodate the growing student population.

Our school is home to approximately 220 students.  Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment with a focus on academic excellence, wellness, social justice, equity and global competencies.  At Castlebar JS, students and their families are valued for the knowledge that they bring to our school and participate in an academic program embedded with the goals of making the world a better place through knowledge, empathy, and social action. We are honoured to serve our students and families and enjoy working with our community partners to create an inclusive, dynamic learning environment that supports all learners to achieve their full potential.
