Welcome to Charlottetown JPS

Welcome to Charlottetown JPS

Thank you to all the students and families that joined us for STEM night!

                         Jump Rope for Heart

Charlottetown is proud to announce that we will be participating in Heart & Stroke “Jump Rope for Heart” again this year! Through Jump Rope for Heart, we are helping students to discover fun ways to get active and practise healthy habits while helping others by raising money to help beat heart disease and stroke. Last year we raised an amazing $3927.75 and are aiming for $1500 this year.

This event is a fundraiser for those who wish to win prizes while supporting heart disease and stroke research.  Parents will need to register their child online at our school’s Jump Rope for Heart webpage  should they wish to fundraise and earn prizes. Then, share the Charlottetown Jump Rope for Heart page with family and friends for donations.  More details on how to donate, as well as the prizes, can be found on the school’s Jump Rope for Heart website.

Please do not feel like you have to fundraise. Your child will still participate in the event regardless of fundraising efforts. We want all students to recognize the importance of heart health and to support the cause.

Our Jump date is planned for Thursday, May 21

Parents who wish to volunteer and help supervise on the event date are encouraged to reach out to Mrs. Bossi at [email protected]. This year we will be doing one large jump event in the afternoon.

We are looking forward to this event and are excited about doing our part to help beat heart disease and stroke!

Project of the Heart

PXL_20250321_174907616

This winter, Charlottetown Junior Public School participated in “Project of the Heart”, a beautiful tribute to honour the thousands of lives of Indigenous children who suffered and died as a result of the residential school experience.

Each student and staff member at Charlottetown were given two small, wooden tiles to decorate and paint, using their own chosen imagery to portray and symbolize our awareness, understanding, and respect for the victims of residential schools and surviving Indigenous family members.

Over 700 tiles now make up the beautiful artwork that is now displayed in our school. It is a powerful and daily reminder to never forget the children who lost their lives due to the effects of the residential school system in Canada.

This project is part of our mission to educate and engage both students and staff in a deeper exploration and understanding of Indigenous culture, traditions and the history of residential schools. It is our goal to encourage ownership of past injustice, as well as, the continued oppression of our Indigenous communities.

This project is just a small gesture of our continued reconciliation and it is our promise as educators to continue teaching the true history of what Indigenous families went through. To learn more about the Project of the Heart, please visit:
