Fantastic Friday Message

Happy Thankful Thursday Delta Families,

Reminder:  PA Day tomorrow - Friday, January 17, 2025 - no school for students

Locks, Lockers and Chromebooks:

This is a gentle reminder that Chromebooks should be charged in the evening at home so they are ready to go for class each day.

If your child needs a lock for their locker, we do have a few that can be purchased.  Please look for the school cashonline option.  The cost is $6.28 and just email Aren to give her a heads up.

The students did a great job this week keeping their phones in their lockers and taking the materials that they need out of their lockers to be prepared for class.  Thank you to all those parents who had a conversation with their child about this at home last week.  It really helped make the transition easier.

Delta Open House:

A big thank you to all our staff, students and parents who helped support or attended the Delta Open House this past Tuesday!!!  Online application deadline is Friday, January 31st.

Extreme Weather Policy:

Looks like the temperature is dropping significantly next week.  The TDSB extreme weather policy states that when temperature and/or windchill factor indicates -28C or lower children will remain indoors due to risk of frostnip and frostbite.

When temperature and/or windchill factor indicates –20 to –28C, recesses may be shortened to 10 minutes and lunch recess be 20 minutes depending on local conditions. Children should be monitored closely for signs of frostnip, frostbite or difficulty breathing.

Please make sure your child is bundled up warmly next week!!!

Please join us on Thursday, January 23, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. as we converse with Bean Gill.

Bean Gill is an inspiring advocate, a trailblazer in paralysis recovery, and a champion of inclusivity. After a sudden spinal injury in 2012 left her paralyzed from the waist down, she refused to let adversity define her. Through grit and determination, she now walks with a walker, demonstrating the power of resilience.

As the co-founder of the ReYu Paralysis Recovery Centre, Bean helps reconnect minds and bodies, showing people with spinal cord injuries what’s possible. Her personal journey has become a source of motivation, encouraging others to face challenges head-on and embrace change.

Bean works tirelessly to break down barriers and fight discrimination against people with disabilities. Her impact has earned her numerous accolades, including Top 40 Under 40 and the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Award. A beacon of hope and empowerment, Bean Gill continues to redefine disability, foster inclusivity, and inspire courage and community support.

Please register if interested for this session.
