Tdsb Elementary School Year Calendar

This week at Dundas

In this final week of school, we celebrated our Grade 5 Graduation, some of our classes went on picnics and hosted classroom celebrations, some of our classes participated in special workshops, our staff enjoyed a delicious lunch together (Thank you Parent Council) and so much more (even some learning!)   Special thanks to Mr. MacIntosh (our student “Principal for the Day”) who was a big help in organizing and implementing some of these exciting events!

This year overview

This year we celebrated special days, learned in the Co-Lab Maker Space in our Library, went on exciting field trips, played lots of sports, hosted performers, and showcased our talents in concerts, a play, and talent show, the list goes on!

Our staff collaborated on professional learning this year. We focused on Truth and Reconciliation, reading, math and mental health and well-being.  When staff learns and collaborate, this extends to our students as well.  We hope that this year brought lots of new learning, joy and success to all the learners in the Dundas community.

Each year, we are reminded that our school is very much an extended family by the efforts of our caregiver community, in particular, the Dundas Parent Council. We are grateful to them for their support, efforts, and commitment to our school community.

Staffing Changes

This is the time of year when we must thank and say farewell to some of our staff members. As you may be aware, a number of Long Term Occasional (LTO) teachers and temporary staff needed to step in this year to fill some vacancies in our school. At this time, we want to thank the following LTO’s for their hard work and dedication to our students and families.

  • Sam Lewis
  • Lyndsey Camps
  • Yang Liu
  • Vincent Hachey
  • Aidan Hodgins
  • Linda Bell
  • Taylor Poupore
  • Cherie DeLory

We say farewell to Paticial Eldridge who has accepted a position at another school. Thank you Ms. Eldridge for all that you have contributed to Dundas over the years. We wish you well in your future endeavors.

Next school year, we are welcoming  Tiffanie Rolo and Patricia Decker, who will be joining our team here at Dundas.

2024–25 year-end Council round-up 🎉

As we wrap up another incredible year, we want to take a moment to celebrate the many ways our Council initiatives have supported students, families, and staff ! Thank you to every volunteer, donor, participant, and community member who showed up, pitched in, and helped us make magic happen.

Here’s a snapshot of what we accomplished together this year:

  • Community Events -- 🏃‍♀️ kicked the year off with our community favourite: Move-a-Thon, 🎃 threw a spooktacular Harvest Bash dance party, 🧥 hosted a Winter Sustainable Clothing Exchange and cozy family photo shoot, 🎶 kept spirits bright with a Winter Concert concession stand, 💖 danced our hearts out at the Valentine’s Party, and 🍦 hosted a kindie hang for incoming JK and SK families. 🎪 We capped it all off with our biggest event of the year: the Fun Fair & Silent Auction, which raised an amazing $32,014!
  • Programming and Supports -- 🧠 expanded the STEM Co-Lab Maker Space, 🎁 supported holiday hampers for families in need, 🧘‍♀️ held a caregiver self-compassion workshop, 🍲 hosted a staff lunch, and 📚 provided classroom help.
  • Community Spaces -- 🎨 helped give the school grounds a glow-up with Bell utility box makeovers, 🌱 completed the inner courtyard refresh – a quiet green space for learning and connection, and 👶 continued working on with kindie yard improvements.
  • 🗳️ Handed the reins over to students for the annual Participatory Budget – this year they voted for a Dundas Lending Library for recess gear and maker space materials for every kindie classroom.
  • 🍕 Ran everyone’s favourite monthly event: Pizza Days!
  • 🎧 Purchased a new sound system for school and Council events.

And we’re not done yet... 👀 Coming in 2025–26: we’re cooking up something special, focused on community-building and belonging. Stay tuned in September for exciting new programs and events!

In the meantime, if you have any questions over the summer, don’t hesitate to reach out: 📧 dundasparentcouncil@gmail.com

Wishing everyone a joyful and restful summer!
